Easiest scope mount that I've ever done

A couple years ago on a lark, I picked up a bore-sighter - something like the attachment below:

Being old and set in my ways, I never used it. However, last winter I decided to commit sacrilege and mount a scope on my Marlin 30-30. To make it even tougher, I put it up on 'high rise' scope mounts, so that I could still see the iron sites for close-ups. I dialed it in against a tree in my back yard using the bore-sighter, but didn't really expect it to be perfect (just in the ball park) and then put it away until I'd have the opportunity to shoot it.

Sadly, today has been the first day that I've taken it out to the 'country' to shoot it, but dang if it wasn't dead on. The first three shots @ 75 yds were all in a 3" circle (and that's because I was all still breathing from walking across the field and shooting from a kneeling stance. I was watching the cross-hairs wander those inches as I was pulling the trigger).

Normally, I'd go through a couple boxes of ammo while dialing in a new scope. As near as I can tell, this was dead-on from dialing in on a cheap little laser that was shoved in the bore of the barrel. Too cool. I guess there's always room for better technology.

I may be slow, but I eventually get there.
