Anyone heard if Remington will be building a tactical version of their new Versa-Max autoloader? I might be interested in one if it's something like the Tac4.
If they do one, I'd guess a street price of $800-$900.![]()

There ya go........
I havent heard anything about it, maybe they will. I dont think the versa max will last long anyway, either they will kill it or tac it up to sell the inventory.

Why do you say that? Is there better technology around the corner? Or, is Versa Max just a gimmicked 11-87? Is the 1100 Tac4 all it's cracked up to be?
Just wondering here, as I'd like to have a auto-loading tac shotty for the house...
Thanks to all for answers to any of the above....

I'm just looking back at the history of latest and greatest in shotgun tech. Guns like this just don't last long. They'll spike sales a little, then dwindle to nothing after the "gotta have" crowd buys theirs. There are a few benchmark models that will be around forever, like the 1100, the 870's, 391's etc. Look at the 11-87; it was then what the versa max is now; Remingtons new technology. It was their flag ship shotgun, and it excels in a lot of areas. But guess what they are going back to... their tried and true 1100. The 11-87 is just being kept around for the waterfowlers, hardcore turkey hunters and maybe some deer hunters; everything else is 1100. So yeah, the versa max probably is a dressed up 11-87.
As far as the 1100Tac4- its a good gun, but a little more show than go. I think the 11-87P is the better tactical auto shotgun.

I've thought about getting a semi-auto shotgun for home defense - I have an 870 Express now, which I use for trap (with a 26 inch barrel) and home defense (with a 20 inch). Thing is...I tried wobble trap for the first time last week, and they let us load two shells in the shotgun. It reminded me just how fast you can be with a pump, and the fact that running the slide forward has the effect of bringing the muzzle back down on target. So...I'm not sure you gain much by going to a semi-auto for tactical use.
The Versa Max looks cool...but kinda pricey for my wallet.![]()
