Thanks for the link, but I would like something easier to change out when it burns out or if gets broken.

That XS sight is about as easy as it gets; just a little JB weld and you're good to go.

I've got one on my 870, and am quite pleased with it.

JB weld on top of it all? Interesting to say the least. Visit your local gunsmith IMO.

You just JB weld the XS sight over your existing front bead (you can also use Brownells Accra-Glass, iirc).

It's the same method Scattergun Tech/Wilson uses to affix their front Trak-Lock sights.

    No gunsmith needed.

Yeah, it sounds easy to put on, but what about taking off. I guess heat might work, but there is a good chance off messing up the finish on the barrel. I would rather have it threaded.

Look at Brownell's. I don't recall what the factory thread is, but there are a couple of options available. I know Marble makes an oversized 6/48 thread bead too. It's a pretty simple operation, anybody reasonably handy could do it.

I called Remington and the factory thread is 6-48.

I don't like the Marble one, but I saw one by Meprolight that I might try.

Meprolight makes a tritium bead sight for shotguns you can get at Optics Planet

They make them for Mossberg, Remington, Benelli

Best addition I made on my Mossberg 590. Although, I need a new one as mine is between 15 - 18 years old and really starting to fade.

I have the XS big dot night sight on my shotgun and thought about this too. Simply put foreget about a night sight on a shotgun. It's too far from your eyes to make difference and quite frankly, you need to have a qualify LED light on a HD shotgun.

Having said that, my XS bigdot's greatest asset isn't the night sight part but the big white ring around it. It's VERY visible and perfect for day or even the little bit of light in our house at night. You'd be amazed how it sticks out at dusk and I'm not talking about he vial but the big white ring around it.

When it runs out you can have a gun smith replace it the same way they would an old bead sight but quite frankly when it "runs out" you won't notice it or miss it. The white ring will last forever.

I would highly recommend this site installed with the JB Weld and then get/mount a good light!!

I LOVE the look of mine.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I should be picking it up tomorrow.

I have a Surefire L4 that I am going to try on it, with a CDM Gear mount. I am trying to decide which one to use, the MOD or the MT.
