Steve McQueen's Mare's Leg
A recent post was asking about lever guns. Several replies talked about Steve McQueen's "Mare's Leg" and posted pictures of it being used in other movies. I think Rossi and Puma make a replica "pistol" of the Mare's Leg. For all practical reasons, it may be a worthless gun, but it looks like it would be fun and it certainly looks cool.
Does anyone out there have one? What do you have to say about it?

Rossi makes it too. They call it the Ranch Hand.

I think it's supposed to start shipping in the Spring.
From thefirearmblog.com
The Rossi Ranch Hand has a 12" barrel chambered in either .38 Spl./.357 Mag., .44 Mag. or .45 Colt. It will retail for $536.

I looks like the capacity on this is six at least in 38/357, I can think of several revolvers I'd rather have.

It's only a novelty item IMHO...if you want to spend the money to make your wall look cool, then go for it.
There are SO MANY other pistol choices for less $$...

It has been removed from the Rossi website, however.
I don't know if we can really count on it coming to market next year for sure.
I just don't see any market for this gun, other than fans of the old Steve McQueen TV series: Wanted Dead or Alive.
But it ran for 3 seasons way back in 1958 - 1961. A person would have to be pretty old to remember it.

Depends on the outcome of the lawsuit, they're being sued over it.

Yea, I'm so old (66) that I can hardly get out of bed in the morning, LOL! I just purchased the entire collection of the series, "Wanted Dead or Alive", with Steve McQueen. I remember seeing all 82 half our episodes when the aired back then. I grew up in the Golden Age of TV Westerns in the late 50's and 60's and it was great! I agree that this gun is worthless and is only a high priced toy for those who can afford it. If I was not retired and living on my SS and Pensions, then I would buy one just to shoot and have fun with it as a toy but I think I will stick with my 4 Glocks, Walther PPS, S&W J Frame and a few mini .380's for my real Guns. I may be "Very Old" but I shure know how to defend myself!

Hey - I wrote this post and my Dad and I would watch Wanted Dead or Alive every week for the whole three years that it ran on TV. I'M 61 AND I DON'T CONSIDER MYSELF AS "PRETTY OLD."
Ok, maybe, I am getting there, but McQueen made that gun way cool and I remember it very well.

I like the looks of the Rossi better, and would like to have one .... just for the heck of it.

I thought Steve was a Glock man.....;)
One of the best movie lines ever..."We deal in lead friend."
A 9mm might expand but a .45 will never shrink enough to fit 17 in the magazine.
