Will this work or will the concussion from the muzzle blast destroy the flashlight? I had some random parts around and put this together.

Are you speaking in generic terms or did you actually build something?
trying to figure out the picture issue. Basically what I did was use an old scope ring on the bottom of a 9mm Hi Point, attached a flashlight but the flashlight sticks out past the end of the barrel.
I'd think you'd be OK if your using a decent quality light. You'll probably get the lights lens all smoked up though.
Is there a link on how to post pictures? Taking it directly from iPhoto is too large and trying to use Image Shack's URL doesn't seem to be working.
This should get you started;

I ran a Surefire Scout just past the muzzle on an 11.5" AR with a brake, you'll be fine on a 9mm though I'd recommend getting a real mount.

ghetto, I know. Do you think it will mess up the light?

The Surefire forearm for the MP5 has the bezel out in front of the muzzle, and they seemed to work OK.

The lens will eventually get dirty from the muzzle blast, but it'll still pass through a surprising amount of light...that's assuming you never clean the lens. :lol:
But otherwise, as long as the light assembly is shock-isolated (for incandescent bulbs) or if you're using an LED, you should be just fine.
Thanks for the input! I'll get a real mount someday, I just threw this on because it's my first tactical style gun and I'd like to lock it in the closet as a home defense. Currently I only have a .38 with Crimson Trace.

If your carbine was a .308 or a short-barrelled 5.56, I'd have my doubts, but not with a 9mm. Fire away and wipe it clean as needed.
