There is a good possibility that, in an unrest state that there could be a bad guy hiding and shooting at me from 100 yards or farther. In fact, this would be a good tactic for him, therefore the need for me to take a self defense shot (or more than one) at his range is very likely.
My suggestion to the OP is that if you need to keep your .30.30 and use it at longer ranges, master it out to the farthest range that your surroundings allow. Even if you have a gun that will shoot 1370 yards your surroundings dictate that you will not need to shoot it that far.
the farthest in your area is 150.... then your .30.30 will serve you very well... practice at that range..... a lot!
