I didn't realize that Ruger is making a .22 that looks like an AR. It takes the same mag as the 10/22 so that should help with reliable feeds but it is made by Nordic Components according to Ruger's specs.
Are there any predictions as to if this is going to be a good rifle?
It might be an OK rifle, its just a dressed up 10/22... I see no real use or market for it. The M&P floats it boat on the fact that it is near identical in function to an AR. The Sr-22 not so much. It has a similar look, and thats about it.

That rifle is a disappointment. Figured it would be an actual ar. Why not just call it a 10/22ar or something.
I like my 10/22 in a more traditional setup anyhow.

Thats a heck of a scope for a .22.
I've handled the Ruger and its pretty cheesy.
If you want to go the .22 AR clone route, you'd be better of the the S&W,HK or Colt clone. At least they look like an AR.

The M&P .22 version does look pretty sweet but its also pricey like all the others of this variety. I'll have to hold off til after I get the AR/15 that's on my to do list. ;-)

I bought an M&P 15-22 awhile back and it rocks. Everything works the same as my AR Spikes Tactical and much kinder on my wallet. I am very happy with the pair. If you want to stay ARish I would save my money and work towards that end. JMO..

Do I think it will be a good rifle?
Yes, I do; the 10/22 platform is arguably the best semi-auto .22 made. I have no doubts it will be reliable and reasonably accurate. I own a couple of 10/22's (one stock, one tarted up with a heavy barrel, etc...), and I like them.
That being said, though...there's no way I'd own a SR-22. For what they run, I could get another .22lr conversion for my AR's.
