Mounting light to S&W M&P15 Sport

    Hi all,
I am the proud owner of a new M&P15 Sport. It is my first AR15 and I know they are highly customizable, but beyond that, I have a lot to learn!!
There is what is called a bayonet lug under the front sight. I am wondering if a light can be hung from that or do I pretty much need to add rails to add a light. I am talking like a Surefire G2 LED or something like that.

    Thanks for any input, Ron

I have had several students with just short rail sections attached to the hand guards, there are even some rails that can be attached to your front sight post or barrel, check out Brownell's.

I'd go with some handguards personally, otherwise your weapon light is going to be way out there, and hard to turn on and off with your normal grip. Check out the Magpul MOE line. They usually decrease weight, have places to add rail sections, look good, and won't break the bank.

If you don't want to change out the hand guards, check out Impact Weapon Components. They make quality mounts for standard and MOE hand guards.

Proven combat techniques may not be flashy and may require a bit more physical effort on the part of the shooter. Further, they may not win competition matches, but they will help ensure your survival in a shooting or gunfight on the street. ~Paul Howe
