    510 yard shooting with Remington 700 .308

Had some fun on Saturday. Buddy of mine came up to the farm to do some shooting. We were tinging a 16"x16" steel plate at 510 yards. Had to shoot through some brush but it didn't seem to effect the shots

He shot a little video of me shooting that I thought I would share

Way to reach out and touch something, now if it were a deer instead of a gong good eating to be had.

Thanks man. We had a lot of fun. I still think I can push the target back another 100 yards. Wish it wasn't cold already.

If you can hit at 500, you can easily do further. With a 20 moa scope mount, high ballistic coefficient Black Hills Match or Hornady A-Max 155 grain cartridges, and an accurate ballistics table, you will amaze yourself at what the .308 700 will let you do.

Right now I'm using SMK 175gr. Seems to be doing me good as of now. I'll see how much farther out I can move the target and see how they do. I may have to switch

The longest firing range I've had the opportunity to use was 300 yds. My Rem 700 30-06 would group my handloads at 3" at that range. 500 (+) yards would have been interesting to try. A loud gong saves peering thru a spotting scope.
