3" or 31/2"

I know that it may not make a huge difference in CQC, but I'm looking at a couple of options for a HD shotgun and wondering if you think it is worth going with a gun that accepts 3 1/2 magnum shells. I might also be tempted to use my purchase for turkey as too, but first priority is HD. Is a 3 1/2 worth desired?

IMO? No not needed.

Unless you want max punch for slug shooting for deer etc - I think 3" is plenty enough - and even that is hardly a real comfortable load I am thinking of ears too - more damage potential.

To be honest - std 2 3/4 loads of your choice of shot - be it small like #4 right up to 00 buck - at relatively close quarters you have pretty much all the ''oomph'' you'll need. JMHO.

2 3/4 loads will be all that is needed for HD, and close quarters.

The 3'' or 3 1/2'' chamber might be alright if you plan on using it for turkey or other uses.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts. I'm really wishing I could buy all 4 of the shotguns I've been fondling lately. :) I also found NIB 870 express with 26" field barrel for $200. I'm tempted to buy this and accessorize as needed. What do you think?
