I have a number of different sizes but my favorite is this CMMG LE 1/7, M4 w/ a 14.5" barrel and flash suppressor which
brings it to a finished 16" length [and] with the collapsible stock it's the absolute shortest you can go with out an "SBR"
stamp. It's as short as I want and with 77 gr "Mk-262" ammo it's plenty hot; I have no use for an AR that's any shorter.
I usually carry this in the trunk of my car for those "situations" which might need more than my 10MM - 1911 - CCW.

The government is merely a servant -- merely a temporary servant; it cannot be its prerogative to determine what is right and what is wrong, and decide who is a
patriot and who isn't. Its function is to obey orders, not originate them.
I think my current favorite is a 10.5" carbine. I have a 1-4x optic on it and have no problem making hits out to 300 yards. I have explored other lengths though. I say try them all.
