    AR-15s and Model Updates

I am new to the world of AR-15s but ironically (long story), I own a DDM4v1. Now, I know that DD updates their rifles regularly but is this like 1911 updates, where the 1911 you bought in 1997 is still awesome, no need to upgrade? Or is it like cars where they drop a whole new model every 3-5 years and the old one you have is now dated?

Im trying to decide if I should keep this DDM4v1.... is it like the Lincoln of ARs? And will it be dated and stale by 2015?

It'll be good to go for a long time. If anything, change out the hand guard if a new style suits you better. All else should be good to go as the heart of the rifle, and actually most of the body, will to change much any time soon.
Proven combat techniques may not be flashy and may require a bit more physical effort on the part of the shooter. Further, they may not win competition matches, but they will help ensure your survival in a shooting or gunfight on the street. ~Paul Howe

The cool thing with ARs is how modular they are. From what I've found in my research for building my first AR, very little has changed in terms of the guts of the rifle. Even if something does change, any modifications shouldn't take someone that knows what they're doing more than an hour or two.

I think DD just likes to hustle their newest rails.

That is survival toilet paper for men. Then it becomes a tactical grenade.

To the OP, your rifle is obsolete and unsafe. I happen to provide an AR retirement service. For no charge I will properly retire your old busted AR rifles in a safe and "green" manner. It is a new venture I am doing, not many people can provide this service but I'm tier 1 special. PM me if you are interested in doing the right thing.

What stock is that? I want to say it is one of those 3-4 letter acronym ones....but I can't remember which.

EDIT: Nevermind. I managed to find it. Still, nice rifle.
