    Ar-15 optics

Im looking into getting a new optic for my ar. The one I have now is a target sports tactical. Im just not happy with it. Seems its just hard to setup. I want something that can be used close quarters and long range out to about 600 yards. Im thinking about nikons prostaff and millets dms scope. Something in the $200 to $300 range budget is a concern. Any thoughts on a good scope for this application. Thanks for any input.

If you are wanting a real scope with cross hairs then Nikon is a great choice.

Close quarters? Forget about a scope. An AR with just irons can easily do "minute of bad guy" out to 50 yards in a quick shot with practice.

600 yards? I'd say lower your expectations by about 50%, unless your target is a D6 Caterpillar.

It boils down to this - what is your gun, what is your ammo, what are you shooting at, and what are your expectations? If you've put a good trigger on your AR, you have a fast twist barrel and you're shooting relatively heavy bullets (and I'm not talking bulk-pack mil stuff), prairie dogs at 300 yards might be doable with good glass. If you just want to hit a man-sized target at 600 yards about 50% of the time, then a 2 MOA Aimpoint will work just fine.

He is not going to get an AimPoint in the $200 to $300 range.

I see used eotech 512's pop up at 300 on occasion though.

I have a used Redfield like this one ^^^ with rings I'd sell for $175 shipping included.
I have shot ATC's AR with said scope. Worked great and would meet your needs. Not to mention he sells everything at more than fair prices. Having bought from him a few time I can only say I feel like I am regularly ripping him off. Although, I am not opposed to saving money so I just go with it.

Finding an optic that does CQB and 600 yd shots is going to be difficult. you are going to sacrifice on one end or the other. You may want to try a setup like this Sweet Baby Jane Ultimate AR-15 Scope Pack for sale. I have never used this product and don't know a thing about it but I have seen a few Ar's with these type of setups. Personally I use an Aimpoint with a 2moa reticle I am fairly accurate at 250 yrds without magnification.

    Get this..https://www.primaryarms.com/Primary_...3M_p/pam3m.htm , thats 99 bucks.

Add the high mount for 10 bucks and the 3x magnifier for another 99 bucks.

That should get you to 300-400 yards easy enough. 600 yards is a tall order.

My AR is setup with one of these red dots and all I did was set for zero at 50 yards.. that works for up close and out to about 200 yards which is probably all you really need.

With military green tip and a 1 in 7 Daniel defense barrel I have hit a silhouette plate at 500 just about every time with a accushot on 10x, you can also dial it back to 4x
