Finally got a Mosin Nagant
After reading everything you guys have posted about Mosin Nagant rifles for the past year, I finally picked one up. The LGS had several still in cosmoline for 109.00 plus tax. Added 2 boxes of steel case ammo and left with a new gun and a 150.00 hole in my pocket. Spent last night taking it apart and cleaning. Very happy with the outcome. I think it is a Izhevsk made in 1943. Came with bayonnet, ammo pouch, tools, oil can, and sling. All numbers match too. Can't wait to go to the range to shoot it. Got some Tannerite targets for Father's Day. Might just have to try them out with it. While getting in the safe to get it out for pictures, I thought of something.
I have a ChiCom Mak 90, a Russian SKS, and now the Mosin. Since these are all socialist manufactured guns, do you think the current socialist administration will allow me to keep them after SHTF ? Most of the ammo I have for these is also from socialist countries. I should be able to keep all of it. After all it came from his chosen political ideology. Guess I shouldn't count on that!! LOL
Is there a link or site for Mosin? I have read the blogs and posts on several other sites besides DC, but wondered if there was an "official" site. I would like to know a little more of the history and what all the proof marks and other stamps mean.
