Range Report: New PSA AR-15 first shots. I am pleased! *Pictures*

These are the first 50 rounds or so from my new PSA AR-15. Rear sight was just bolted on and we rolled with it. Ammo was XM193 5.56 and fired at 50 yards sitting on a picnic table with a front shooting rest. This is with a factory front sight and Mag-Pul Gen 2 rear. I am VERY please with the grouping we got. This if from 3 different shooters: myself and my 2 teenage boys. I hate to admit but they gave me a run for my money. Although I did get the first bull. At 50 yards I can barely see the quarter sized bullseye.

First 2 shots out of the box:

    Target range setup-Rural Wisconsin style:

    Final result:

We ran through another 50 rounds on a metal spinner target and had just as much success. I am very please with this AR.

My grouping is high. I know they make a tool to adjust the front site but is there a way to adjust without the tool?

In boot we used the tip of a round of ammunition.

Yeah, we were taught that too. Although I found a punch to work much better in real life.

Congrats hfjeff. I've shot the poo out of my PSA since last December and have been nothing but pleased with it. The trigger just keeps getting better.

Congrats, I bet your sons were all smiles.

I just ordered two PSA lowers for builds in the near future. It ought to be fun.

You guys are gettin' me going with all this crazy talk.
I'm supposed to be a hater when it comes to .556.
I am a .30 cal dyed in the wool, but this is cool.

Glad you are having a great experience.
Looks like you better sneak off to the range to practice, so your boys don't get the best of you!
    Thanks for the report.
I have never heard of this company until last year, but am thoroughly impressed.

They were giddy as was I. This has to be the most fun I have ever had shooting a rifle! There is something unique and different about shooting an AR over other rifles. By the way, that barrel gets Hot after 100rds.

With an AR, you use the tip of a round to change the elevation of the front sight. Start at 25 meters, with the rear sights centered and all the way down. Adjust the front up or down as needed for elevation.

One click moves the poi 1 1/4 inches at 100 yards. The rear sight windage is 1/2 inch per click at 100 yards, and the rear sight elevation is 1 inch per click at 100 yards.

While adjusting elevation at 25 yards, go ahead and set your windage. After that you are good to 200 yards by dialing the rear elevation knob to the #2 mark on the dial.
Ignorance is a long way from stupid, but left unchecked, can get there real fast.

My PSA build from one of the two Lowers I ordered this Summer. All parts and Upper are PSA other than the Magpul stuff. 16" Midlength.

Thanks, shooting irons is kind of new to me. That little silhouette is hard to see when you are focusing on the front sight. I was aiming a little too high at the beginning. The red dot makes things a lot easier for sure.
