I have a new RRA Tactical Operator 2.. I am trying to find the best deals on 5.56 /223 ammo... I know most of the ammo sights but trying to find out what most of you are using and the best deals right now... Thanks for all your help :) BTW My first AR and really pumped :) :)

Welcome to the world of ars. i purchased a stag model 2 about two years ago and love it. For ammo check bulkammo.com my son just got 4 boxes of remington golden sabres defence ammo for right around 60 dollars or so shipped on sale. Not bad when most places are about 30 to 35 a box.
There's an ammo price thread on arfcom which gets updated frequently.
Buy in bulk - 500 rounds or more at a time - to get better prices.

+1 for sgammo.com. You may need to check weekly to find a really great deal (they do have them), but you can get a really good deal almost anytime. Shipping is reasonable as well. I've had great luck with them and have made several purchases.

.223 has gone up recently here. I bought a case of 1000 rounds last summer and just finished that up a few days ago. Now the same stuff that I paid right around $6 a box for is running $10 a box. I've been shooting Tula (steel cased, and $4 a box as of a week ago) in my M&P Sport, but my new rifle length build won't eat the stuff. I've got to pony up double what I've been paying in order to enjoy the new rifle.
I'd look online. One place that I've been contemplating is this one:

I frequently stock up on 223 & 308 from them. No tax & reasonable shipping considering how heavy some of these bricks are.

3 weeks ago at the gun show in Phoenix, PMC 5.56 was selling for 34 cents a round, Lake City (Federal) was 38 cents, and Hornady steel case was 27.6 cents. Still shouldn't have to pay 40 cents a round for now.

They have PMC .223 or Federal M193 for $6.98 a box (20). I try to buy a few boxes every time I go in there. I've bought some from SGA and Cheaper Than Dirt for a similar price. No tax, but with the shipping cost it's pretty much a wash.
