Have you guys ever considered any issues with heat? for example, would putting a coat of high temp stove black on a suppressor first, and then regular paint over it help the heat?
I'd leave it FDE. But like Matt, if it came black, I'd paint it. The paint will darken quickly in the center. I have a pic I'll try to dig up that shows it. I'd probably lean towards cerakote for the suppressor.
Proven combat techniques may not be flashy and may require a bit more physical effort on the part of the shooter. Further, they may not win competition matches, but they will help ensure your survival in a shooting or gunfight on the street. ~Paul Howe

I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to make the drive to see Matt and get some help. I'd like to paint up an AR but my shotgun turned out ugly. The ducks and geese don't care that it's ugly but I do.

Glad this thread popped up again. I've got a Ruger Scout coming in soon .... I think. If I like it, it's going paint. It won't be a venerable piece of blue and walnut, since its neither stock.

I've got a MK18 build brewing that will get paint too. Lets do it!

I've got a SOCOM762 mini waiting on F3 and when it gets here I want to put it thorough a beating to see if the 'new SOCOM wondercoating' actually stays the same color like SF claims. I ran rapid strings and hundreds of full auto through the -212 can and the color didn't completely burn off, but like I said it did change to a gradient of a few tans/browns. Fine by me!

I just installed the tri-rails on this gun. Epoxy, flat head screws, and set screws. I don't think they'll fail.
I made the front sight and the light mount quite some time ago. Now I have the rails I will likely buy a proper light for it.
This mini-14 has been customized with a 16.5" air gauged, semi-bull, stainless barrel, a Krieger, 1/2-28. The gas block and charging handle machined and polished to match.
Mild trigger job. Stainless pillar and cap screw bedding job. all done by a guy who specializes in mini-14's.
I got the snake skin-like pattern using a piece of expanded metal under my cardboard blob cutouts. I rather like the effect.
Does it pass muster?(edit- it's my first gun paint job)

SHOULD I PAINT MY BRAND NEW TAVOR????
