I just picked up an M&P15 Sport... pretty good price $639. This is my first AR style rifle. I've added a Magpul handguard and NcSTAR quick release scope mount so far. I plan on hitting the range this weekend; I'll come back and let you know what I think.

Congratulations. I have had mine for about a year now and I love it. I don't keep close count but I have to be over 1500 rounds with mixed range use and 3-GUN matches. It has been flawless in that time.
These are the best value in the AR platform.
Agree, I've had mine for about a year and love it. Best $700 and change I've spent on any firearm. I don't know all that much at all about rifles and I'm sure there's much better setups out there, but for a first AR I think the M&P 15Sport is a pretty darn good choice; lotta bang for the buck IMO.Quote:

Awesome, congrats. They are a pretty good deal for what you pay, not to mention the benefit of having S&W's customer service.
It is nice to see an AR like this on the market, where the specs aren't exactly going to blow you out of the water, but the company actually prices it accordingly. Anyone who gets one should be happy with their purchase.
Went to the range yesterday and put 90 rounds through it sighting it in from 50 and 100 yards. 100% reliable and I was very impressed with the accuracy.
