Yeah, the .30 carbine round is considered weak, but that's when compared against a rifle round like the .30-06 and .308. I consider it very effective out to 100 meters.

Me, too! I had three different ones back in the early '80s, when the commercial models were readily available for around $250, used, (that's what I paid for each of my three, IIRC). I now have to wonder where all those inexpensive commercial model Carbines went, because all of those I see nowadays cost around $800-900. I wish I'd held on to one or more of the ones I had, to say nothing of the M-2 Carbine my father-in-law brought back from WW II in a duffel bag!
