    my self defense carbine

I have a M1 carbine that my dad used in WW2.it still shoots great and with soft point or hollow point I trust it completely.
I have several 15 round mags and 1 30 rounder all loaded and ready to go.
Its small, lightweight and easy to carry.
I think its a perfect defense gun. What do you guys think?

Would work for me! My dad also carried one in the Seabees during WWII.

Very close to perfect in my view as well.

An M1 Carbine is kept out of the safe around here for such purposes.

An utterly-reliable M1 Carbine's hard to beat. It's short, agile, lightweight, dead-nuts accurate, and easy to use. With the right ammo, it can be a devastating little defensive carbine (ie, Winchester X30M1 JSP 110gr, or Remington R30CAR JSP 110gr).

    Enjoy it, and the memories/history.

That's exactly what the DOD had in mind! The M1 Carbine was to be a short range SD weapon for truck drivers, cooks, building guards etc. When I was younger, almost every PD and Sheriffs office had a rack full of them. And they would still make an excellent gun for law enforcement. DR

I would not hesitate to grab an M1 carbine in a SD situation,at night the only drawback might be the sights, but if your capable of point shooting it wouldn't be a drawback

When I spent 2 years in Iraq as a contractor an M-1 carbine is I told the wife to keep by the bed at night, 2 jungle clipped 30 round mags of hollow points were in the gun ready to go and we did a fair amount of training in the backyard before I left. That along with her carry piece, a S&W 642 with Crimson Trace grips.

I use to have 2 carbines but upon returning home I was informed "Betsy" is now hers
