Can I Still Shoot These

OK this may be a goofy question but.....

My son bought some 12g 2.75" 00buck to go out shooting but the box said it is 2.75" Magnum ??

Now I know there is a difference in plan 3" and 3" Magnum's, but what about in 2.75" ????

Can I still shoot these in my SG, it's chambered for 2.75" and 3" but not in Magnum?

He just learned too check the box before you buy syndrome

Yep, you're fine.

In both 12 and 20 gauge, there are 2-3/4 inch as well as 3-inch magnum loads. You can safely shoot any 2-3/4 inch shell in a modern gun with a 2-3/4 inch or 3 inch chamber (in the same gauge).

With a magnum buckshot load, be prepared to give you shoulder a workout!

Magnum load in a shotgun simply means more of a load.

Occasionally, that load will require a bit more powder to push the larger load, but in any case, it will be perfectly safe in any modern shotgun.

So you can shoot 2-3/4inch magnum shells in a 2-3/4inch and 3inch chamber. But you can't shoot 3inch magnum shells unless your SG is 3inch magnum rated?

It's not "rated". It's the length of the chamber. A 3 inch shell won't fit in a 2 3/4 chamber.

I understand the chamber size inception, 2-3/4inch and 3inch shells, and you can shoot 2-3/4inch shells in a 3inch chamber but you can not shoot 3inch shells in a 2-3/4inch chamber, thank you for the reply's.

What I'm asking is magnum vs non-magnum shells?

Judging from the first couple responsive answers to my question, I'm guessing I can shoot 12g 2-3/4inch magnums in any 2-3/4inch and/or 3inch chamber. True or False?

Now what about 12g 3inch magnums? Can I shoot 3inch magnum shells in any 3inch SG? True or False?

And I know that magnums will be a little more powerful too, that's why I'm asking. Just like you can not shoot 44mag in a 44special/S&W but you can shoot 44special/S&W in a 44mag.

The magnum thing means nothing. If it fits in the chamber you can shoot it.

If the correct gauge SG shell fits in the chamber < 2-3/4inch shell in a 2-3/4inch or a 3inch chamber or a 3inch shell in a 3inch chamber > regardless of if it is a magnum shell or not it is SAFE to shoot

And the magnum shells will produce a bit more recoil/punch/power too
