Great guns. Über reliable. I've owned a couple of the newer ones. Decent combat accuracy.

All of the Ruger tooling and CNC Machinery for the Minis has been upgraded/modernized etc. You should be buying a great rifle.

I bought a Mini-14 the first part of December for less than $600. Something told me this AR/AK thing was coming and I thought it would be good to have an alternate platform for .223 ammo. Then the Newtown shootings took place and here we are. I've not even fired the rifle yet, so I can't tell you how it performs.

Mine is 18 years old and runs like a champ. I added an under barrel Laser, Red Dot Scope on top, Butler Creek folding stock and have around 20 high cap mags for it that all run including the polymer one's. Sitting on just over 2500 rounds of 223 that should last a while. Never had an issue with it and never shot over 125 yards with it so don't know way down the range accuracy but it is fine for me at that range.

What brand are the polymer mags that you've had good luck with?
