How do I remove a tactical butt stock?

I got an ATI tactical stock for an SKS, and I'm trying to install the cheek rest. Their instructions say to "pull down on the latch lever and remove the butt stock."

So are they referring to the latch underneath that adjusts the length of the stock?

Yes - the latch that adjusts the length of the stock will also allow it to be removed. You have to pull it way more than you normally would though.

Never mind. It broke so I threw the piece of crap away. I'll never buy another ATI product again.

That is how all the AR15 style collapsible stocks come off without removing the buffer tube, the adjustable latch you squeeze needs to be gripped and pulled down as far as it will go while you slide the stock off the buffer tube.

Another way is to pull real hard until it breaks.

I didn't mean any harm - just joshin' ya. Sorry your stock broke. Was it the main part of the stock or just the "shoulder thing that goes up"? In either case - I bet they would replace it for you.
