    rock island M5 shotgun problem

well today I picked up a brand new M5 rock island shotgun for $209. I thought it would be a great HD weapon, so I could leave my more expensive shotgun
safely locked away in my safe. the action is very smooth, and I like the extra weight of the steel. however when I began taking it apart for cleaning (covered with oil) I noticed what may be a factory flaw. I took the stock off the back and this is what I found. what should I do?2013-01-20_17-35-21_72.jpg2013-01-20_18-03-41_960.jpg

I tried to contact customer service but my call wasn't answered. must be after hours. So I emailed them via their website.

I'd wait and see what CS's response is.

That is pretty clearly a manufacturing flaw.

I'd be talking with the dealer that sold it to you... he/she can probably expedite a replacement more easily that you can.
RIA is pretty decent when it comes to taking care of their customers.

You could carefully degrease your threads with contact cleaner and then use Loc-Tite Blue thread locker which would keep that from loosening up at some inopportune future point in time.

I would only use Loc-Tite Blue or you'll never get it back out again.

It looks like there is enough solid metal there to hold those threads in but, so...it's either that or make arrangements for it to go back to RI for a replacement if you cannot locate who sold it to you.

It is also the weekend after SHOT. Their Facebook showed quite a few people in Armscor/RIA shirts, so they might have just closed up shop for the show since they are fairly close to Vegas.

Yikes! I'd check with the dealer to see if they will swap you out another, that will be your quickest fix. If not, RIA will take care of you. They have great customer service.

Armscor will definitely take care of you! It may take a little while, especially with SHOT just ending, but be patient. As others stated, try your dealer first. Oh, be careful, that heat shield might scare the pants off a libtard and get on someone's list! :)

ok so I contacted the dealer, (who doesn't even have a showroom, just attends gun shows and it well out of reach across the state) who got me in contact with his supplier. the supplier said to call around local to see if any other stores he supplied (17) had one in stock and of course they didn't. rock island armory has still yet to acknowledge my compliant or even answer their phone. i have called, emailed, and posted on their web site. this is crazy. I would sell the damn thing if I felt you could safely fire it.

No, I wouldn't shoot it. And keep your pants on ref. customer service. It's a holiday weekend.
