I watch slickguns.com and gun-deals.com mostly and check Cabelas and others occassionally. Around/Under .50/round seems ok these days.
If you need something now, $750/1000 on gunbroker.com
AK folks can still get 7.62x39 pretty easily for about $300-350 per 1,000. Might be cheaper to buy an AK and shoot that.
Already have an ar, so that's out of the question lol
I started hording back in the 80s.
Just check Midway daily also some Walmarts arw gwtting shipments.
Finally found some 5.56/.223 on the internet! Target sports usa had some 50 round boxes in stock so I ordered 2! (2 box limit) I called to make sure their website was accurate and indeed it was. They were very easy to get a hold of and very polite.
i have plenty of IMI M885 if your interested. thanks
how much do you want and how much can I have?!?
I am not sure if you have a Sportsmans Warehouse near you, but they have 5.56 in stock sometimes, 3 box limit though. But maybe you can go in a couple of times when they have it. The truck comes on Thursdays out where I am. Call and ask when the truck comes in and then go wait. It is crazy but people will be waiting for the store to open.
Be safe!
NEVER point a gun at something you are not prepared to destroy!
AND for GODS sake, get your finger off the trigger until you are ready to squeeze the trigger!
Walmart here still has some XM855 420 cans and 100 round value pack. No price increases.
Or you could reload. My Dillon 550 was delivered last week, components are a pain to find but aren't too expensive. Gather some friends and go in on it together. My first 2k rounds of 223 will pay for my setup, I've got buddies lined up with 'pre-orders' once I get things up and running.
Monotony is the awful reward for the careful

Where are you from? The walmart closest to me doesn't have the 420 round cans
