"A first rate man with a third rate gun is far better than the other way around". The gun is a tool, you are the craftsman that makes it work. There are those who say "if I had to do it, I could" yet they never go out and train to do it. (WETSU)
I don't have 20 minutes to give it BUT I switched from a AK folder to a 9 mm Hi-Point carbine. Why? My housekeeper had a AD with a .22 short and it went THROUGH 2 layers of drywall. I know the 9 will also but not like a 7.62X39

Yeah you guys need to watch the video.
I keep my handgun by my bed, also because of the ease of use. I might as well keep my AR by the bed though. I've got enough varmint rounds kicking around.
If you don't have 20 min to watch the video, just watch the first 5 min. He makes the point early on and supports it later on.
Spoiler: rifle wins.
Edit: In fact, the video is only about 10 min long. The rest of it is advertisements and what looked like SHOT coverage.
Enjoyed the watch. Thanks for posting This.
GO STEELERS!
Thanks :) I've tried to tell people this, but they say no no that can't be true.
Dumb.

Good video with good info, thanks for posting.
Be safe!
NEVER point a gun at something you are not prepared to destroy!
AND for GODS sake, get your finger off the trigger until you are ready to squeeze the trigger!
I have both an AR-15 and a handgun (9mm) for home defense (other stuff too). The AR isn't as handy because I can't keep it in the safe next to my bed, nor can I carry it on my person. So in the context of a nighttime invasion, my 9mm will be most accessible. But should I have the time to get my AR, I would much prefer it for personal defense. Don't know if that addresses the topic, but that's my situation.
