Winchesters are going up in price because the Plant closed.
According to our Browning Rep., the Model 94 and Model 70 will resume production in the near future, being built at the Columbia, South Carolina FN plant (the M70 barrels have been made there for some time) .

many years ago the lever action gun was the king. nothing wrong with it. a many cowboys used one. have you never seen the rifleman on tv. chuck conners was the man with a lever action rifle. you could go for the "rambo" guns or get a good lever action and know how and where it shoots. 30-30 or 35 rem are some of the best lever action guns made.

For years, the only rifle I owned, or could afford, is my Marlin 336C. I am more comfortable with it than any other rifle I own, including my AR-15. Placing a shot at 200 yards is no big deal. The 30-30 is a good round and cuts through brush very well.

When the GHTF, you might also need to hunt for food and I personally feel a lot more confident killing a deer with a 30-30 than a .223. But that's just me.

Maybe because I've had it for 34 years, I feel a little attached to it.

I own an AK and a Marlin 336. I wouldn't feel scared with either one in my hand if the crap hit the fan so to speak.

I also love the way the 336 feels in my hands and its balance. That gun has taken some very big Indiana White Tail deer. Knocks them down pretty well too. It would put a human down very handily.

Heck yeah, it would be (is).

As powerful as an SKS or AK, and it hands with which it is familiar, it is just about as fast to shoot, too.

Probably a tad more accurate as well.

More ergonomic, easier to handle, etc.

And until the GHTF, it won't scare the sheeple too much, either.

Where in Indiana can you hunt deer with a center-fire rifle?

I like the Marlin 336 and with the new Hornady round the 30-30 has a new lease on life.A Savage 99 in .308 would definetly work in a GHTF situation also.
