I got this today.........a Norinco SKS Type "M" rifle......16 inch BBL, that accepts AK47 30 Rnd Mags.. It's NOT a Duckbill type mag, but the type of magwell that accepts the AK mags.. It looks real clean, and the bore is spotless, in fact, it came from somebody in Massachusetts. I think the seller should have held onto it, but tradedit to the store, where I snagged it for 195.00 less my 10% discount.........

does it also accept SKS mags or only AK? cause if it takes both...I might scrounge around for one! Looks nice!! Congrats on the aquisition!

It only takes the AK mags.............it doesn't have the cutout for the duckbill mags.................It will also take the 75 round AK drums too

CLASS that stock had to be redone. I bought my Norinco SKS about 15-20 years ago new in the box and its stock didn't look that good. I really like the Norinco SKS and think they are the best out there.

The "M" type SKS was a later version, to be more "politically correct" just before the AWB came into effect...........it came with a "Monte Carlo" type stock, yet I'd love to find an origninal SKS stock for it........(they came with the SKS paratrooper type stock for the shorter BBL versions........

Class how do you tell the difference. I change my stock over a few years back. I did not like the original stock and have no plans putting it back on. But I do not know if my SKS is a paratrooper.

ben, for some reason, Distributors such as KY Imports during the 80's and others that took in huge amounts of these type SKS rifles called them "paratrooper" versions............probably due to them having a 16" barrel.......the SKS usually came with a much longer BBL with a Bayonet on it as well..............The true "paratrooper" version never had the bayo lug or a fixture for one......due to the shorter BBL...........Polytec also manufactured the same type rifles, until they were no longer importable into the Country...hope this helps, and if you see one............you'll probably snag it, as they sell 5 rnd mags for hunting purposes...Originally Posted by Ben Hennessy

Nice find!! The 16" barrel and the AK mags makes that a very nice package.
