    New AR

So after finally getting my money around and on a tight budget I chose to get the mosseberg mmr tactical. for 800 its not bad put a fire field sight on it and finally got to shoot it today(bought it Friday) first 2 shots the ejector ripped the side of the case off and left the shell in the gun. finally 3rd round shot good and nothing after that shot 40 rounds with out a problem.

Factory ammo? some times that will happen with hot loads that expand and stick in chamber lube it up and go other wise it may never give you a problem again. Enjoy.
Couple links to look at most do fully understand how to sight or use an AR sights.

Congrats on your new rifle. Your ejection problems are cause for concern, did you lubricate the bolt carrier group before firing the rifle?

Congrats on joining the 5.56 club, now just be careful, ARitis has a tendancy to affect your wallet more than most would like, scientists are still working on a cure but so far the only temporary relief is to dissasemble and reassemble as fast as you can blindfolded.

Not familiar with the Mossberg, but it has to be decent for them to put their name on it.
Big Congrats on getting your 'first'?

I've been shooting that platform since the corp gave me one for 'Nam.... been addicted ever since.
Clean it, lube it, use Pmags with dust covers to protect feed lips of mag, and decent ammo.

Check ar15.com or ar15Armory.com if you need specific advice on your AR/M16/SBR/AOW/AK/etc.? Those guys know 'everything AR'.
I am a Mod on one of 'em & they help me out, plenty.

Once you get 2 or 3 in the safe, you'll be looking to 'Build One', then another. LOL

Congrats! As far as the shell getting ripped , was the rim separated or what exactly happened. How about pics of the rifle and casing?

KUDOS on the AR mathewsman. Could be the ammo, could just be that the first few rounds had to work off any burs/rough spots in the chamber, could be you didn't clean off the packing lube and it caused the casings to stick, maybe it was too dry? Could be any number of reasons, but if it is running fine then it ain't broke & don't worry. Just make sure you lube it good next time.

Awesome links Smitty901. Were going out soon to prep our firearms for hunting season in the next couple of weekends and the info from those links will come in handy.
