A piece of history came home

After many months of waiting, I got an offer from the CMP to switch my HRA M1 Garand order to a Springfield M1 Garand, so of course I jumped at that opportunity. I was expecting nothing more than what the Service Grade description would get me, but I was totally blown away by what they sent me. After spending a few hours cleaning all of the cosmoline off and lubing everything, I ended up with this. It shoots great and is also fun to shoot. This one is in the 4,255,XXX serial range. The only shooting range I could get to the other day was only 100yds, so hopefully I can make my way to a range that lets you set up targets at different ranges so I can really start to learn this rifle.

If you don't have an M1, I highly recommend getting one.

Oh man! I gotta go back to work from lunch but will be back to scrutinize the neato photos. What a great gun! One of my very favorites of all. A real rifle.

Neato?? You just tole alla us old fogeys you're an old fogey BMC MAN!!! Nary a problemo Bro...Heck I ain't no rocket scientist and that you kin take to the bank!!

That M1 Garand has a gorgeous finish twixt the wood and the rest of it from the muzzle to the receiver!! Beautiful. I've always had my heart set on an M1 Carbine rather than the Garand. I've wanted the M1 Carbine since 94-95. Unfortunately they are beyond my means. I shot an M1 Carbine and an M1 Garand and...this was actually my favorite rifle I shot that day which freaked me out cuz it was an Enfield SMLE in 308. My pal RN49 let me shoot the SMLE the rest of the afternoon. We were at the public range at Fort Lewis. This was June-July 2010. On the way back to RN's place we stopped in to The Foxhole (a GI Surplus) store right outside the Main Gate of Fort Lewis where I bought 2 cases of MRE's and some doodads. That was hands down the BEST ROAD TRIP I went on in ALL of 2010!!! Woo Hoo!!

Golly Gee...I hope I did not go too far off topic...sometimes I get carried away with stuff.

    Sweet M1 Garand! Sweet!

Like others have said....I'm jealous. Have wanted one of them for years and could've got one but just never did.

The M1 Carbine is also a favorite of mine as well.
