Some mods to my Maverick 88

How it looked when I got it, compared to how it looks now. Side Saddle, light mount (with a smaller Maglite), and a Tapco stock. It really needs a shorter barrel. Right now, I think its at 28", and thats just way too long. Its longer than my Mosin with the stock extended. Cant wait to go shoot it and see how this stock does with recoil.

Stock Maverick 88 12ga from Walmart.

How it is today, after installing the stock.

    Next to my 91/30 Mosin.

It actually has a real nick and thick rubber pad that is on the end of the stock. It seems like it would be real comfortable.

Not sure I would want my cheek up against that stock...prefer the factory one. Good shotty for the money.

Project guns are fun. You can always tweak them as you see fit. Can you get any kind of adjustable cheek rest for that stock?

Pretty sure I remember seeing adjustable cheek rests for this stock. Not sure though. Never looked into it more, it happens to be at the perfect level for me. I just put my cheek on it where I naturally want to, and my eye is at the perfect height for the sights.

you can get a kit from brownells for $180 that changes the barrel to 20" and a 7 round mag tube

or you can buy the protecter 88 for $200-250 that is the same, can get the 18.5 and 6 rd

Long arms. Im 6'5. But it stays right next to my bed, leaned up in the corner. I would just turn the light on when I picked it up.

Ummm... you might want to give that strategy a little more thought.

Why? If I need it in the middle of the night, I can just talk over, feel the barrel, and get to the button on the light. Then, it lights up the rest of the room, so I dont trip on anything on my way out the door.

If you are using it as a lamp then every one will see you coming. If you are worried about tripping over things then keep your floor clear.

Only use the light when you need to ID a target.
