DPMS Oracle 223/5.56 $599.99 Range Report!

Purchased yesterday at Cabales in Wichita for $599.99. Just returned from our locale range, put about 100 rounds thru it. (1) 30 round mag, (came with the gun) and an old military 20 rounder. Gun performed perfectly no fif or fte's. I used some tula steel case and some brass case ammo with no problems. My son gave me an inexpensive red dot scope (simmons) and it was better than nothing I guess. Not outstanding but performed well enough. After sighting in at 25 and 50 yards all rounds in the 8,9, 10 ring, so not to bad. Looks like the rifle is going to be a fun shooter for the money..

Would I recommend it...You bet.. great gun for the money IMHO.

I bought the same gun from my local guy for $639. Slapped a red dot on top and it shot very well. I like it!! Can't wait to hit the range again.

They make a decent entry-level AR. Not e/one needs $1500 Colts or would ever get their value from it.
If you ever want to use it outside on a sunny day a Burris Sure Fire III Reflex Optic, 3-8 MOA with sun shade, will do fine for ~$220.

Best to keep away from the steel casings & non-jacketed bullets, though.

BIG CONGRATS on your new purchase!!

Also, that 20 rd mag will come in handy for sighting-in on a bench &/or rifle vise.

Thanks guys, I am pretty satisfied with the rifle. Patri0t, I am going to upgrade the sights but I have to save some $$$ first, I spent every thing on the rifle.

I really like my DPMS Oracle. Great gun, but LOTS of maintainance.

For the money, they're just fine. Would I like a $1,500+ AR? Sure. Do I really need one? Not really. I picked up a Bushnell red dot for mine on the cheap, and it makes for a decent combo.

30 round mags work just fine as a monopod off the bench or prone.

I'd do a thorough inspection of the usual suspects. Gas key on the BCG for proper staking. Receiver extension castle nut properly staked. Gasblock not canted (if railed version) and square/in line with the upper receiver rails. Mags drop free upon depressing of mag release, bolt locks back on last fired round, trigger reset consistent.

Any other quirks (if any) are going to be inherent - gritty trigger, stiff fire selector....

I checked mine (at the range )and it is good to go on all points. Had my son look at it as well and he liked it too. Thanks for posting.

Good! I'm glad to hear that you got a rifle you like.

Thanks everyone, I know it is not one of the "Good" ones, but I think it will do just fine for what I bought it for. If I keep it clean and oiled well it should last a long time...

You knew what you were getting when you bought it, and for the price you paid you did just fine. Enjoy the heck out of that thing!

FYI Colt 6920s are $849-899 on sale (new).

    Enjoy your purchase OP.

I purchase the Oracle back in March 2013 when it was hard to find and over priced, never had issues with it. It shoots great, and accurate. I sold it in October for the M&P15 tactical
