It is interesting but pointless for the USA consumer imop ... We can not easily own either a true AK or M16 (esp the ak seems to be less pre 86 ones then M16) or for that matter esp for the AK anything close to a true clone cloest we ever got were the Styer Madii but how many of thouse are floating around .. But as a mil chart it has it points ..Again the Russian were going off the captuer german rifles and that whole idea .. We went a differnt route ...

Also point missing is that a AK makes a heck of a great club if you run out of ammo...

LOL! Pretty simply put, and comparisons always involve pros and cons. Debate about caliber, capacity, and durability all you want. But the AK47 will function a lot longer than the AR15/M16 without cleaning in the field. I would rather carry an extra 20lb of ammo caliber for caliber, than have to worry about cleaning every 2-300 rounds. If I was concerned about long distance shots, I would carry a dedicated long range rifle along with an AK47 and likely in 30cal as well. That article is a comparison, and not which is actually better under all conditions. Sad to say that if the commies infiltrated us tomorrow and you were taking rifles off dead bodies and looking for ammo..........which do you think would be more prevalent to find? 5.56 or 7.62? AR15/M16 or AK47? Comparisons and debates are sort of out-dated now aren't they? Just like WalMart has more peanut butter and for less cost than anyone else in the world. Think about it. What would you carry with you on bug out day? Or would you just depend on taking down a commie at 200yds with your AR15/M16 in order to sequester your own AK47 and ammo? Just saying. My own comparison here. Not exactly what's best for everyone. LOL!

If an AK gets a mud bath hose it down and it's good-to-go. If an AR gets a mud bath hose it down and...

    Just sayin'.

What AR-15 do you have that you have to worry about cleaning every 2-300 rounds? This is news to many in the AR world and much evidence exists that in fact totally refutes that rumor

    The correct answer is "Mosin-Nagant!"

Mosin Nagant Humor* AK vs. AR vs. Mosin Nagant

    A) You can put a .30" hole through 12" of oak, if you can hit it.

    B) You can put one hole in a paper target at 100 meters with 30 rounds.

    C) You can knock down everyone else's target with the shock wave of your bullet going downrange.

No TV getting ready for work, but not as many as I thought. I like the AK round but since I'm not going to be having a full auto (especially since Uncle Sugar doesn't buy me bullets any more) The AR is looking better than it used to.

If you run out of ammo you can use as a club , and when the battle is over use the stock for firewood to keep warm and the barrel as a tent pole.

Lt. Colonel Hal Moore: That's supposed to be a pretty good weapon.
Sergeant Major Basil Plumley: Ahh, lotsa plastic. Feels like a BB gun to me. Believe I'm gonna stick with my pistol.
Lt. Colonel Hal Moore: Think we're gonna get close enough to the enemy to use that?

I carried a AR for 2 years in Vietnam fighting people using AK's. I own an AK. They ALWAYS work. I have seen MANY...MANY AR's that didn't.

The only problem I had with the story was the length of service honestly most good Ak's will last as long if not longer than Ar's.
Having said that I own both but lean to the AK side of things.
