I've got a Hi Point 9mm Carbine that is ready to go for home defense if needed. But it is not my first choice to repel a home invasion.

That honor goes to my Remington 870 Police Magnum.

I do not own one of the Hi Point carbine rifles, but I do have three other Hi Point pistols (that work great by the way) that are ready to go at a moments notice.

When I was a gun salesman in the late 1990's, we sold a lot of Hi Point carbines. I don't EVER remember having to send one in for repair. Ugly, IMO, and the best gun Hi Point made. From 1 old 0311's photo, they've improved the looks. And the extended mags weren't available then. A real "best buy" in a 9mm carbine.

I been think bout getting one in 45 for that role .. Just wish they get off the 94awb train and make some over 10 round mags that work at least for the 9 or 40 .. Maybe make it take glock mag .....??

I do like the idea cheep gun that works so if they cops take it after a HD sit no big lose .. As most of my PCC and rifles and not ext ones I want to see siting in police evidenie for years

I read about the woman in Detroit earlier this year on Townhall.com (in the Bearing Arms tab at the top), whom repelled 3 pukes attempting a forced home invasion, with a .45acp High Point carbine.... one of the idiots tried to return while she was still on the back porch with her carbine.

I don't have a Hi-Point but if it runs good (and I've heard they do) then why not? I have two carbines set up for home defense, a Beretta Storm in 9mm and an HK USC in .45 ACP. If something goes bump in the night that's what I'm reaching for!

That video and its back story was hilarious from an LEO viewpoint. "Hey, let's go back and see if the lady shoots at us again!!"

Serious comment. The gunshop sells lots of $1700 Benelli and Beretta shotguns and Hi Point pistols/carbines. Why? Not because I like them but they work and the owner keeps selling them.

I Don't, but I have been considering getting one or two to stash around the house for HD. Stick it in a downstairs closet inside a small safe...just in case.

I looked at them at my LGS the other day. They are built really solid and have a lifetime guarantee.

They have them for $285 for either 9 mm or 45 acp.

I am thinking about getting the .45 acp version.
