    Bushmaster 450!!! I want one!!!

    450 Bushmaster
Hornady introduces big bore performance for the AR platform.

Nicknamed "The Thumper," the new 450 Bushmaster is the most radical cartridge ever chambered in production AR-15 type firearms. Hornady brings big bore performance to the most popular semi-automatic rifle in America — opening a whole new world of hunting to the battle-proven platform.

Hornady engineers worked closely with the Bushmaster design team building the cartridge to wring every last ounce of performance from the AR-15 without sacrificing any strength or reliability.

Well suited to hunt any North American game, the 450 Bushmaster will quickly become a favorite of bear country guides. By simply switching uppers, shooters can go from the prairie dog towns of South Dakota to bear country in the north woods!

    The 450 Bushmaster fires Hornady’s 0.452” 250 gr. SST-ML featuring Hornady’s Flex Tip™ technology.
The overall cartridge matches the 223 Remington at 2.250”, but uses a specially designed magazine.
The SST’s sleek profile makes for surprisingly flat trajectories and tremendous downrange energy.
Put it all together, and you have a cartridge that gives your AR series rifle a serious attitude adjustment!

    Thumper, indeed...
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.

There seems to be a trend towards putting large caliber uppers on the AR-15 platform. I head the Coast Guard bought some chambered in .50 AE for disabling small boats.

Yeah, that is basically the S&W 460 round if not the exact round.

I might have to track down an upper since I'm a believer in any .45 round.

So the stupid question I have is does any AR lower receiver able to accept any AR upper receiver?

I've shot a .50 Beowulf (Alexander Arms) on an AR chassis. Brothers, believe me when I tell you, it moves the AR to a whole new league. The .223 is great for hunting coyote. The .50 Beowulf is for hunting old Buicks. I would guess the .450 Bushmaster is about the same. Think .444 Marlin from an autoloader. Whoa!

I have a .50 Beowulf upper for my AR. It is a kick to shoot. I am curious about the 450 Bush Baby, how do it's ballistics fare against my old tried and true 45-70?

    Oooooooooh, I like it

Looks like this is the one to have:

All MoD-0 kits come with hard-case, 2-20round magazines, bipod, Otis cleaning kit, Leupold Tactical Mark 4 LR/T scope and NFA sound suppressor.

Bushmaster will be offering the .45 Bushmaster in a complete rifle package and also as an upper conversion. You can use your existing lower and the kit will come with a blue follower for use in current factoy 30 round mags to give a .45 capacity of 9 rounds. I can't wait to get my hands on one!!!!
