No thanks. It might actually work but I'll stick to the shotgun with the barrell sawed off to 1/2 inch longer than the legal minimum. I call it my 'point defence weapon' and it is our downstairs gun. For those times I need firefower while backing up the stairs to my other weapons!

Pilgrims? Nah...go back 200 more years...to 15th Century Spain... IIRC, the natives in New Spain were scared of the Conquisatdores because of a) horses, b) the noise of the blunderbuss, and c) small pox.

It would seem to have a negative impact on velocity. I would think the propellent gasses would escape around the shot load as the barrel got wider. I picture a loud boom and 9 00 buck shot pellets rolling down the barrel on to the floor.

Won't do squat-all. The blunderbuss had a big mouth for ease of loading, not shot-spread. It will open up your spread, but nothing like they suggest. Think about it- unless you stop the wad, or compress the shot in a different direction (ala, the duck-bill), the effect is no different than you'd get with a 12-14" SBS. Great marketing, though!

Foget the house gun....get the "Bed-er-ciser" that they sell. Trun it into a giant slingshot....use any old bowling balls laying around the house. Think of it as a crude mortar...that'll scare those bad guys...he he he.
