So, just this weekend my father gave me our AR-15 to take down to Virginia. Oddly enough, as a side note, I purchased some ammo at the Walmart up there and was forced to go through the driver's license and jacked-up price rigamaroll. :aargh4:
ANYHOW, this is mainly geared to all those "build it yourself"ers.
I have a bone stock Bushmaster AR-15. It's not an M4, isn't a varmint gun, it's one of the earlier ones that's an exact copy of the M16A2, less the burst function. It has the rifle-length barrel and full stock.
But for when I'm feeling frisky, I'd like it to be. So, I'm looking at swapping out the upper for something with a flat-top railed receiver, along with some quad rails for mounting of optics and perhaps a flashlight.
My question is thus: Does anyone know if a complete upper from Rock River (http://www.rockriverarms.com/subcats.cfm?Category=06) would simply swap out with my Bushy upper receiver? I believe it would (I assume everything is made to mil-spec). Firsthand experience would be great.
I plan on putting in about $1,000 or so for this project in the next few months (for the new flat-top and quad-rail upper, as well as an EOTech 552).
If anything else, I'll plan to call RRA (couldn't find an e-mail address on their site!).
Thanks guys!
