AK trigger replacement
I'm considering some upgrades to my MAK-90 to make it even scarier than it is. I came across this replacement trigger group from Tapco which claims "Our trigger groups offer an improved trigger pull of 3-4 lbs. and eliminate the painful trigger slap common on other designs."
The trigger does get a bit bothersome after about the 3rd magazine. The pull is less of a concern.
My question is does anyone have experience with this or other trigger systems making similar claims? Do they work as advertised?
I've seen the rubber tube trick and read of modification. I'd rather not make any modifications to stock parts since I don't trust my craftsmanship skills that much. If replacement parts don't work right I can always put the originals back on.
I still rely on my piece of 6mm silicon tube
But - do plan one day to either do a tweak per the description on one of the websites - forget URL - but better still add the Tapco modification. I have yet to hear other than good about it so, must get to it one day!!
It's the most common replacement for AK's, and being manufactured in the U.S., they count toward the US compliance regulations.
Also consider replacing the Shepherd's Hook with a replacement plate from either One Source Tactical or Red Star Arms. The standard "stock" spring can "walk" out on rifles after a great deal of shooting. The shepard hook replacement plate not only prevents this, but allows for easier and quick removal of internal parts later. Peace of mind, baby.

I just now realized my Romanian WASR10 came with a TAPCO G2 trigger group. That would explain why I didn't experience that trigger slap.
The Tapco G2 trigger group is also 3 US made parts (re. 922 compliance) so it may be important in the parts count if you change the thumbhole stock out and add a pistol grip. I just added one and although I have not yet fired it, I find it smooth, crisp, shorter, and better than the stock trigger. I did have an AK gunsmith polish and install it for me, so I had a professional do the work instead of a DIY. OMO.
Many AK owners find, however, the MAK-90 trigger better than many other AK triggers...
If you are going to replace it, go with Red Star. But like Rock and Glcok said, MAK 90s have one of the best stock triggers.
