Is it possible and does it make sense to keep a truck gun with a BOB or SHTF kit in a vehicle? I would like to keep a shotgun or maybe an AK with folding stock with the other gear. Any info and or oppions would be appreciated.
Thanks again

I have often thought the same thing. My suggestion would be to find someone way to lock it up securely. I have seen people do different things. I am planning on custum fabing an aluminum locker later this year to fit under the crewcab seat. Kind of a "riot box".
I will support gun control when you can guarantee all guns are removed from this planet. That includes military and law enforcement. When you can accomplish that, then I will be the last person to lay down my gun. Then I will carry the weapon that replaces the gun.
SonofASniper;
Do you mean something like this:

Kind of. But what I am thinking of I have only seen custom fabricated. The Sherrif's dept. that I was a reserve with years ago had some aluminum lockers custom fabbed for their command vehicles. They were lockable and very secure, and allowed on shift supervisors to carry heavy/swat equipment to deploy to onsite deputies in the event of an active shooter in progress.
I always like the idea, but felt it could have been tweaked better. If I get blessed the things are looking like this year, I hope to have my own personal example of one by Christmas, and I will post pictures.

Looking forward to it. Securing truck guns is always a priority for me. Expecially driving up and down the highway to and from the ranch and home.
Around here Texas State Troopers and other LEO's who are issued trucks secure their weapons and other equipment under locked bed covers. The problem I have with that is that I have a full size tool box and L-shaped Diesel Tank in the bed. Along with other equipment I put in and out of my truck a bed cover doesn't work for me.

As long as the rifle or shotgun is not loaded it woud be leagal in Washington to do so. The Magazine for and AK or AR can be loaded but not in the rifle.
The major problem would be how you store it so it would be safe if the car was broken into.
I keep an axe and machete with my auto emergency kit. When I leave the house on a trip I either grab my AK or my 44Mag lever action. I have come up with some Ideas for shtf case for the guns but haven't worked out the bugs yet. I have a Honda Civic so size is a major problem to work around. I would Welcome your Ideas.

Just read your PM, Your response has been sent. Thanks!
Welcome to the forum.
raevan is right. Has to be unloaded and not visible from the outside of the vehicle. If you aren't concerned about speed of deployment, a cable lock around part of the seat frame would add a bit of security. If you are talking about behind the seat of a truck, a softsided case would help keep it from getting beat up so much.
eschew obfuscation
The only thing that stops bad guys with guns is good guys with guns. SgtD
The weapon is on my 'person'...it comes and goes WITH me...
I've already had a robbery from my vehicle and would hate to think that I had also lost a firearm!
Stay arm...stay safe!
