I was under the impression that only handguns were 21-and older items, but today when I went into my local gun store to look at AKs, they were behind the desk with a "Must be 21 to purchase" sign over them. Have I been sadly mistaken for the last few months that my next purchase would be one of these?Im 20 BTW.

Even here in the peoples communist republic of NY state you have to be 18 to buy any rifle and 21 and have a permit to buy a handgun.

Washington State the ages for Rifles is 18 and Pistols 21, Don't know about your state, I would bet it is just that store, check around to other stores.

IIRC, some jurisdictions do limit "evil, scary rifles" to 21 and older.

There are such things are AK Pistols... but I doubt you ran into that if their was a sign up to that effect. Because I doubt any store would carry much if any of those variations. But just so ya know there is such a beast.

same for pennsylvania. it sounds like they are afraid of anyone under 21 to me, find a new shop, and i think you will be rewarded with the perfect fighting rifle.
