    Steve McQueen's Mare's Leg

OK, I am bored, recovering from a slipped disk in my back, and "playing" with my guns. So, I gimped out to my local gravel pit and did some shooting. Bad back or not, I can still figure out a way to shoot. About four years ago I bought a Rossi "Ranch Hand" and then I had it customized to look exactly like Steve McQueen's Mare's Leg from the old Wanted Dead or Alive TV show. It may be a completely worthless gun, but it is SO much fun to shoot(that makes it anything but worthless). Mine is a .357. I had the barrel shortened and the stock shortened and I finish almost every trip to the gravel pit with my Mare's Leg just for kicks. It is awesome to shoot and when you hit the target, it makes the shooter feel like a million bucks. Anyway, without anything else do do today, I thought I'd write this post. The dang gun is so much fun to shoot. I am a physical education teacher and one of my most popular units for the kids is archery. The kids absolutely love it when they hit the target. I feel that way when I go to the gravel pit with my guns. Hitting the target with my Mare's Leg is an unbelievable feeling - it makes my day. Keep shooting everyone and teach your kids to shoot - they can shoot the rest of their lives. Talk about a great "carry over" activity. Make sure they have a fun gun to shoot, too.

LOL. Hitting a target with a Mare's leg is quite a feat.

'Just funnin' ya. Some guns are just fun. That's one of them.

I wonder how far his bow will shoot it and still hit the target.

Steve McQueen is the only guy I've ever seen "fan" the hammer on a lever action rifle.
I like watching the old westerns. But, that one was a bit ridiculous at times.

My step father had one and I got it when he passed.Mine is in 44-40.I gave it to my son and told him get the big lever fixed ,it's broke at a curve and have a gunsmith check it out before he fires it because it was a wall hanger at the family camp we once owned.

They are certainly fun to play with at the gun stores. I have never shot one but I do have the Rossie 92 16" and that is one of my favorite guns to blast with. Thanks for the fun post!

Most all of them were to some extent, but they're still fun. McQueen may have "fanned" his levergun, but he's still the "King of Cool".
