    Sears & Roebuck 20 GA

I picked up a old Savage made Sears and Roebuck single shot 20 ga from the local pawn shop and cut the barrel down to 18 3/4"s. I went out Gander Mt to pick up some 00 and they only had 1 box of Remington 00, I`m not a fan of Remington ammo but I went ahead a picked them up.
I fired 2 shells at the target and it covered the target pretty good but not the flight controlled shot I`m used to. I`ll get into town again this weekend and find some decent 00 shells and tear up some targets. From what I understand Savage made this shotgun for Sears back in the day when most Department Stores carried their own line of guns.

Pretty cool find but I wouldn't have cut down the barrel.

Are you going to use a single shot shotty for HD?

It`s more for fun at the back yard range.......These sell for about $80 to $125, I give $100 for that one so cutting it down didn`t hurt too bad.

I stepped out back a ran a couple of 00 through my little shotgun this afternoon.......it`s tame compared to my 12 ga but it`s a fun little shooter.

    I see 2, 3 and 4 buck, but not 00.

It will work for HD. Just more loading and ejecting.

S&R 20 gauge was my first big gun my dad got me. I still have it. It's a H&R that I think he paid $18.50 for.

Man that looks like a nice little lightweight and nimble 20! I like it!

I keep a 20ga Remington pump at the house. I bought the pump after I took my side-by-side out to shoot some sporting clays once too often. The problem with the pump was/is, I saw all the photos of pimped out pumps and wanted that too. So I got the mag extender, flashlight mount, ammo saddles etc., etc. It looks freaking awesome!! Loaded - it's heavy as sin! Swings like a pig in the mud ...

Maybe it's time to get another swinging 20 sxs!! Can't decide if I want that or a SIG516 with a 10" ... bah - that's another story. Congrats on the shotty brother. Looks like a blast to shoot.

Nice pick-up. Both of my Mossy 500's are Westernfield 550's made for Montgomery Ward back in the day.

I found these folks while doing a search and they offer 00 as well as buck and ball and a few other wicked shells. I have not ordered anything from yet.

    ^I'm in this camp here^^^^^^^^^^^

That one looks too good to cut.
I would have cut maybe a more well worn one, but to each their own.

Would have made a nice bird gun for a youth or teen.
