    Beretta Rx4

Has anyone else seen the pics of Beretta's new Rx4 Carbine? Its a .223 carbine that uses AR mags. Other than the Robarm XCR, its the only other .223 carbine that I've seen that I really like the looks of. The Sig 556 looks like it might be overrated and the FS2000 looks bulky for such a compact weapon. But I like to see all these new futuristic styled carbines out. It gives people some more options over the AR.

I think the thing is ugly.

I'm curious, why would you pick one over an AR?

I like it, but I have an AR. You have a lot more options with an AR, but an AR costs twice as much.

Not saying I would pick it over an AR. ARs have so many possibilities. I used to dislike them, but they are growing on me. Its just good to see other options in the same type of weapon. It might be fun to have one and for some reason I like the looks. I hate the looks of the Cx4 carbine though.

I'm with you on the XCR (I love mine) but I just have to part company on the Rx4. I just look at it and go, "Eeew". To my mind it is one ugly looking gun.

I'm going to have to echo others' opinions on the RX4. It's not an attractive machine. I would definitely pick up an XCR if I had the fundage, on the other hand.

    I hear maybe in June.

It could be/will a home run in California.

Sorry Beretta I probably just lost you the business in 47 or so other states.

Anyway I am stoked. I have ben debating the Kel Tec and the Mini 14. That sucks when you only have 2 to choose from.

Iíd wait and keep my ear to the ground concerning any potential ban in the future however doubtful; just to make sure you get ďsomethingĒ in case a ban does go through.

Thereís a whole bunch of new stuff coming down the pipe:

    Masada (this looks really cool)
    STG 556 (AUG like)
    SCAR

The XCR is here now, and getting great reviews, but the company doesnít have a great reputation based on everything Iíve read.

Also, I just donít know what offers enough improvement to make me want to switch from an AR15. Most of the current offers look good, but most weigh in at around 7.5 lbs empty compared to my 5.7lb 6920. Add all the gizmos and most will be over 9lbs loaded, once I cross that line Iíd like a bigger bullet.

Iím sitting back with my DSA SA58 Para and a 6920 and waiting to see how it all sorts out. I figure thereís no real hurry and I like the idea of other guys buying them and sorting out the bugs. I got bit once on a first run truck, and Iíd rather not go through that again.

Dunno, one Internet rumor says "mid 2008".

The Masada built by MAGPUL, looks like it might be a contender:

It also looks like it's closer to being produced.

When will the Rx4 be available? According to the nice Beretta folks I spoke to at SHOT Show 06....sometime in 2007 and not for private citizens....LEO's only.

According to the Beretta folks I spoke to at SHOT Show 07....sometime in late 2007 (more like 2008) and still only for LEO's for now.....supposedly, there were importation issues to deal with with BATFE. I never did ask if there were going to be made by Beretta USA.

    Now? How knows.

Yeah that Masada looks like the SCAR. I'll have to wait and see what the reviews are like and how it functions.
