Anyone here own or ever fire a Saiga 12ga. shotgun?
They are built along the lines of the AK. Are autoloading and magazine fed.
I'm just wondering what your experiences / thoughts may be.
Thanks,
Rick

I've got a Tromix converted one.
Great gun ... recoil on slugs is surprisingly low.
Plus its about the most evil looking gun on the planet (in addition to a side folding Ace stock and SAW style grip, mine has the Tromix Door Breeching muzzle brake ... its an evil looking bit of steel that could almost be used as a bayonet).
I keep mine loaded up with ball bearing shot as a home defense gun.
How's the reliability on it? My Saiga rifle is 100%, but I would think shottie might be different.

I have a stock Saiga 12. It is an excellent weapon; reliable and very heavy duty (both typical AK traits). They recoil is very low for a .12 Gauge (even when firing slugs/00 Buck); I haven't tried magnum loads out of it.
I'd love to get mine done up by Tromix....and then get a .20 Gauge Saiga.

Wow! Those are pretty wicked looking shotguns. I had not seen them before. I don't guess you can use the 10-round mag for dove hunting . . . ;-)

I honestly thought the saiga 12 was an NFA item like the street sweeper is now by fiat . BTW a buddy's that i shot years ago was fun , and i may be trading for a .410 ( which i understand is not regulated ) with the thought of makeing a small mag ( depends on how many i can make feed ) .45 long colt carbine .. dont ask me why other than no one else has one lol .
Make sure you get full value out of today , Do something worthwhile, because what you do today will cost you one day off the rest of your life .

There's been some talk about a large cap .410 as the bore diameter is no where near a DD diameter... .45/.410 would be cool, could use the Taurus .45/.410 as the sidearm to go with it.
The Saiga 12 is awesome. Tromix makes some beatiful firearms, although I do enjoy the stock version. My wife loves to shoot clays with it. :-D
shot a 20 gauge, very reliable and fun too!
Thanks for the responses..... They seem to be a hard weapon to get. I haven't been able to locate the basic Saiga 12 with a 19" bbl in stock anywhere.

More info available on the Saiga forum...
IIRC some one was saying only a limited quantity was headed to the US and most were spoken for...
I'm not usually checking out the shottie parts of the Saiga forum though.. I have my S.223, so I've been reading up on giving my "Russian bride" a makeover.. LOL
