    loaded ready to rack. Would like one extra step for if it fell into the wrong hands during the fight.

    I didn't answer the poll because it depends entirely on what shotgun I have out of the safe, which depends on which residence I am in. In my college housing which has very tight quarters I prefer my Stoeger Coachgun, which is kept with a round in each tube, and the safety on. With this set up I sacrifice the number of rounds for the ease of moving the weapon through the building.

    The other place is much more open, and for there I use my Mossberg 500 persuader that holds 7 in the tube. For that one I keep the tube loaded, but the chamber empty. Although I do make sure to dry fire after making sure the chamber is absolutely empty, so that the slide is ready to move without the release being depressed.

    Me too - and my handgun is ready to go and that will be even more at hand anyways.

    Is there anything wrong (mechanically) with keeping one in the pipe?

    Thanks for the feed back

    11/87 cocked & locked.

    Loaded and ready to rack on the pumps, nothing sounds like a pump-gun being racked.

    Wink

    My Ithaca 37 makes such a unique awesome sound when the shell is quickly chucked into the chamber.
    I keep the tube stoked and the chamber empty.
    If by some miracle a BG did manage to break into my fortress I want that sound to be the last sound that he hears before I send him on the road to Hell.

    I keep my 1300 fully loaded ready to rack. Just the sound of the pump action has been enough in the past to stop an attempted burglary... Really hard to mistake the sound or not notice it.

    Just wish I had a shorter barrel for it. Great turkey gun, but a little big for HD.

    Mossberg 590 pump (tritium bead);
    Empty chamber; magazine loaded (8) "00" Buck; Eagle Industries Stock Pouch with 5 slugs.

    56 rnd. Bandoleer loaded with (20) "00" Buck, (10) #1 Buck, (10) slugs, (5) compressed lead breeching rounds. I keep two empty loops separating the groupings.

    (Bandoleer hangs on hook next to my Blackhawk Tactical vest and my shotgun.)

    I have a load out bag pre-loaded for swat call-outs that I only have to add 3 or 4 items in it and go to the car.

    Loaded but not cocked and locked. A little paranoid about it tipping over and boom. It's easier for the trigger to get pulled on a shotgun than my cocked and locked 1911.
