So here is the deal.
I have one Bushmaster lower (pre ban) that originally had telescoping stock and short barrel with long flash hider. I got a fixed stock and a twenty inch H-Bar match upper that I put on to shoot DCM competitions. As Hurricane season is upon us I have been thinking more about bugging out vs sheltering in place. I have a tack driving .308 bolt gun for long distance work, so.... How do I leave the AR configured until I get a second lower? The shorty configuration would be handier in the truck, but that means sacrificing terminal ballistics.

Take the long upper, put it on the collapsable lower, trust me, it's not that long. I lived for four months in the back of an iron box with 3 other guys, and the regular M16 was just a little too long, by adding the collapsable stock, you can make it a little more user friendly.
Besides, it's a lot easier to change the upper if you have two complete uppers, pop the pins and "hot swap" the uppers as you need. Changing the stock in a hurry....not fun.

Sounds like a winner! I imagine I will get used to the look after a while, but as they say, form follows function.
