My new cure for G.A.S. arrived today, a Kel-Tec SUB2000 9mm (G17 mags).
Only have 50 rounds through it as I didn't want to shoot it too much without cleaning/lubing, and also I was running late for the dentist. Ended up half hour late but it was worth it knowing that I at least got 50 rounds through it...
First impressions are very good, well worth the $75 and a Taurus revolver that I paid for it. Worth more in fact, but there you go. I didn't sight aim at the target as my hearing protection was in the way, I need to shoot it with just earplugs. Instead, at 20 feet, I shot one round intuitively without sights and built a rapid fire group around that, my point shooting was exactly center of the head by the second mag with a group size of about three inches. Not bad for a new gun, so I'm sure we're going to get along.
I'm going to get some Glock 33 round mags, maybe a few KT add-ons, but most importantly I'm going to shoot this sucker every chance I get.
I'm seriously considering one of the Sub2000's as my 9mm carbine. Please keep us up dated on it's range outings.
How does it feel? You seem pleased with how it shoots, but how are the plastic sights? I really like the price but I'm leary of the quality. Which is kinda funny because I like Taurus and Kel-Tec is usually ranked the same, its just that I've never owned a Kel-Tec and only shot their P-32 and P3-AT.

I've thought about getting one of those in .40. Sounds like you are happy with it so far. Please let us know as you continue to build an impression of it.

I like the sights, sure they are plastic but they adjust and if you want there is a mountable rail option for a laser.
I didn't get to use the sights at the range as I mentioned, but I like how they acquire while dryfiring.
I'll get to use them properly soon.
The quality is Kel-Tec quality, it comes in a pizza box... but it works and is affordable. The Glock mag compatibility is a big plus too.
Go check one out, the design is good and you'll likely appreciate the engineering.
I've heard they are snappy in .40, probably less fun.
Zero malfunction with three types of cheap FMJ - WWB, Sellier & Bellot and some cheap Russian stuff...
This gun is fast, very fast. I was doing moving target drills, the target was at a distance varying between 10 to 45 feet. Usually with a handgun I am able to put two shots COM and one headshot each time the target presents itself. With the SUB I was getting five or six shots in the same time - the recoil just is not there - I'll probably get faster too once I dial in the trigger more.
I used the sights some this time, not bad and not great. This isn't a precision rifle. The groups are plenty small enough for HD/SD at 2"-3" but for target shooting at normal rifle distances I would use a rifle caliber not a sub, and not this gun. I'm using it as a point shooter, it absolutely lends itself to that.
But for what I bought it for it excels. I was shooting faster thus getting more lead into the target, tearing it up in fact, and having a blast while doing it. Not quite gonzo-plinking but certainly more fun than a 10/22...
I may have this as a HD gun after more range time, if so I will attach a rail and add a light/laser. Pictures to follow if I choose to do that.
