    Shotgun Lights

I am looking for recommendations for a light to mount to my shotgun.

I have a Remington 870 police model. I was going to get a surefire forearm replacement with the light attached. However after handling one I didn't like the grip it provided.

So I am looking for other options. Ideally I would like to mount the light at the front to the left of the barrel, with a switch mounted on the stock forearm.

    Thanks!

I have one of these on my 870 and it works well. You could easily mount a weapon light with pressure switch on this kind of setup. And it will work with any railed light system. It's expensive but it is nice and the whole setup could cost less than the surefire forend depending on what light you went with.

any of these lights would work:

    Our flashlight mag clamp

The company I work for makes a great solution! It is an inexpensive clamp for your mag tube that accomodates most diameters. I use it on the left side of my 870 (I prefer it there as opposed to directly below the tube). It has a sling stud to make things easier, too. Email me if you'd like info on how to get one.

There are two on this Remington 870, one for the barrel stability, one for the flashlight on the tube.

Get one of these http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/SHT071-47755-2204.html and get a dual scope ring and a Wolf Eye's 6A Sniper with Cree LED ( https://www.pts-flashlights.com/prod...9-103-113-6313) and you'll be good to go. If you position it right you can push the tail clicky with your thumb instead of having an annoying cord on your gun.
Heres mine, I have a slightly different mount but this is the angle and position you need to use the tail clicky. I also have a crappy little light in this pic but the WE light is definitely going to replace it.

Cheaper-Than-Dirt carries lots of cool, inexpensive stuff like this. My one suggestion when you order is to ask them to include one of our mag clamps for stability (it will affix to the barrel and the mag tube just behind this litte beauty of a solution). Nice suggestion, A.N.

If you want a real powerful light check this one out, https://www.pts-flashlights.com/prod...spx?uid=1-4-13, then add this (it's as easy as dropping it in) https://www.pts-flashlights.com/prod....aspx?pid=6254. Then you will have a rechargeable light that you can also use CR123 batteries in just in case of extended power outtages (it takes three 123's).
Here is a great place to get good 123's at a great price, http://www.amondotech.com/index.asp?...S&Category=241.

Thanks guys, some very good info.

    Alien Nation,
I like the look of the Wolf Eyes 9A Raider Rechargeable Flashlight [9A] that you linked, and I think 200 lumens is plenty bright enough for a home defense gun. But do you know if they will take abuse of being mounted on a shotgun. I was planning on buying extra bulbs, but I don't want to take that first shot then be left in the dark...

    Thanks!

my old hunting 870 is looking bored and lonely. Maybe its time to pull a transformer move on it?

I hear the military has had some luck with a universal mounting solution similar to these whenever they need something that isn't weapon or accessory specific.

On my Benelli I use one of these mounts on the magazine tube:

Combined with an Insight Technologies M3X light:

This allows for 125 peak Lumens and a light that can be quickly removed for daytime practice to save wear and tear, and also swapped to a different weapon if needed. With the mount positioned against the magazine cap the controls are right at my finger tips. I use the same light on my Colt 6920 and my SIG 220ST.

    kd5nrh,
Well that is the default plan for just about every problem. :)

    Chuck R.
Do you have a link to where I can buy the mount you have pictured?

    Thanks!
