I've been jonesin' for a quality AK type rifle for a year now, and the best I've found is either getting a SAR-1 for $350 and then having to untwist the sights or paying $600+ for a VEPR or some custom job.

I have heard about the VEPRs developing trigger slap sometimes, but there's not a rifle on the market without a problem of some kind.

Ah decisions decisions. It seems like every time you have your mind made up on something, you stumble across a deal you'd be crazy to pass up.

Euc - I think that group buy of Correia's on THR is pretty good - would love one myself and - would doubt trigger slap gonna be a major prob on that gun. BTW - you a member over there? If so - handle?

I forget where I heard about the trigger slap thing but the person complaining about it remarked he owned 2 of the rifles and that it was easily fixed. I think it was one of those 1 in 1000 things.

I'll have to think about it of course but a deal like that doesn't come along too often.

Then again there's always a deal to be had if one just looks around.

With regards to an AK 47 pistol... that's different.

For someone else this would be a gimmick gun but for me, this is strongly to my tastes. I'm sorely tempted. The XD is still gonna be there in a few months and this won't be, not at this price!

I gues if ya want a semi accurate .30 cal. For my money I'm glad I have a AR. I have yet to see an accurate AK clone.

I've been thinking hard about the VEPR group buy at THR also, but I just purchased a Rock River AR carbine last week, and haven't even had a chance to shoot it yet

I also have an Armalite A2 rifle and a Romanian WASR AK....as far as accuracy goes, the AR wins hands down. But the AK is probably the one I will grab when the mutant-zombie-kill off the old geezers so we don't have to pay Social Security anymore -riots begin because of the drop-dead dependability factor. A quality AK-47 (I don't think that is an oxymoron) definitely has a place in my gunsafe
