    Legallity of a Mossberg pump

Is it legal to have a pump action shot gun fire every time you rack the action with the trigger held in? I've heard of some people saying that older mossberg 500 could do this. Can the newer models do it , if so how can i make mine do it?

I wasn't aware that the Mossbergs did it ever, I would consider it a malfunction. There are a few old pumps that can do this, the Ithaca 37's come to mind. We were thinking about one of those as a defense gun behind the gunshop counter, but in practice it's harder to use than it would seem. Easy to make loud noise, hard to hit anything. I see no reason it wouldn't be legal. Would be the same, function-wise, as "fanning" a single action revolver.

The older Ithaca pumps do that. My Ithaca Model 37 operates that way.
    It's legal.

Seriously though, I know my Ithaca 37 does but I wasn't aware of any others.

I thought it was the mossberg I guess I was wrong. The more I think about it, it would be kinda hard to aim while you are racking the action. Thanks a lot for the feed back.

To sum it up; yes it would be legal unless their is a local law that addresses it, but why in the world would you want that?

Holding the trigger and racking would not give the accuracy (if that's important with a scatter gun) like racking and THEN pulling the trigger...what benefit would there be to avoiding the trigger pull?
Above all...bad finger habit at best...

If loose gun laws are good for criminals why do criminals support gun control?

FYI, don't do that. It's stupid, and it's impossible to control, even is you have the super-duper action job. Only an idiot would do this.
